Some of my best friends are those I've met from my CCAs back in secondary school and poly. I did not want to miss out on the chance of joining a club that would enrich my university life. When I first saw the AIESEC NTU booth, I thought it was a club dedicated to Isaac Newton and was about to walk past it when one of the AIESEC members approached me to tell me more about it.

I admit that I tuned out from the conversation (he was using big words such as "youth leadership" and "personal development") but because of the passionate way the member spoke about his work in AIESEC, I decided to attend its info talk. Although I still did not fully understand what AIESEC was about, the speakers at the info talk were amazing and I knew I had to be a part of this organisation.

I had joined two other clubs as well during the start of my freshmen term but decided to focus solely on AIESEC. Why? Two reasons. Firstly, the people. The people in AIESEC are so open-minded and friendly. Also, since it is an international youth organisation, you get to meet and interact with AIESECers from all around the world! Secondly, AIESECers see themselves playing an important role in developing youth leadership (yes, I finally understood what this meant), which meant that they were concerned about global issues and how to address them.

Choosing AIESEC as my CCA in NTU has been one of the best decisions I have made.

AIESEC has allowed me to forge lasting and meaningful connections with people whom I could never have met outside of this organisation. I have also become more aware of the social issues around me and do feel the need to act towards them.

Lastly, AIESEC gave me a home away from home.
